"When toddlers are learning to walk, they should be in bare feet or a soft soled shoe as much as possible so they can feel what they touch with their feet and develop muscle strength" Department of Health, Victoria, Australia

"Optimum foot development occurs in the barefoot environment" According to the American Academy of Pediatrics

Did you know that most babies are flat-footed when they first start to walk?!

The flat-footedness nearly always improves as the bones develop and as the feet strengthen.

A child learning to walk receives important sensory information from their feet touching the ground. This sensory information is important in strengthening their feet muscles and ligaments.

Keeps the toes safe during crawling.

Babies often drag their toe tips during crawling and their first steps. Having closed tip shoes keeps their little toes safe, while still provides the flexibility.

Not all places are as safe as our homes.

The daycare (kita)

Walkies are perfect for kindergartens (kita & Kinderkrippe) where the children can run and play in their comfy soft shoes, while you know their little feet are well protected.

On the patio or the Terrasse

Most patios or terraces are stone or concrete, which is not safe for walking barefoot. Walkies keep the soft skin safe, while still providing barefoot feel.
